Question 1

Is my data private?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your chat files are unzipped and parsed locally in your browser. Photos and videos never leave your device. The text and the audio of every voice message are sent to our secure servers (encrypted in transit). Your chat is stored on our servers so your analysis stays accessible. You keep full control: delete your chat and any analysis anytime from your dashboard. Never used for ads or training and shared only with the providers that run the service. From a video, only the audio track your browser extracts is sent for transcription; the video file and its pictures stay on your device.

Question 2

Is ThreadRecap safe for sensitive business conversations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your chat is parsed locally in your browser, and photos and videos never leave your device. The text and the audio of every voice message are sent encrypted for AI analysis. Your chat is stored on our servers so your analysis stays accessible. You keep full control: delete anytime from your dashboard. Never used for training, never reviewed by humans. Many users analyze business disputes, client negotiations, and HR conversations. From a video, only the audio track your browser extracts is sent for transcription; the video file and its pictures stay on your device.

Question 3

Does ThreadRecap sell or share my data?

Accepted Answer

No. We never sell your data or share it for advertising. Your conversations go only to the providers that run the service, which our Privacy Policy lists. Our revenue comes from what customers pay for the product, not from your data.

Question 4

How do I export a WhatsApp chat?

Accepted Answer

Open WhatsApp, open the chat, open its menu (the chat name on an iPhone, or the three dots at the top right in a group, the three dots then More on Android), and choose Export Chat. Pick "Include media" if you want the voice messages transcribed. WhatsApp then asks where to put the file: Save to Files on an iPhone, Google Drive on Android. Some Android phones also show Save as file, which puts it in Downloads. That last step is not optional on Android, because the file is not stored on the phone until you choose.

Question 5

What audio formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

We support OPUS, OGG, M4A, MP3, AAC, and WAV when they appear in your export. Audio is processed through OpenAI's audio transcription API and merged into your conversation timeline.

Question 6

Can I analyze group chats?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can select which participants to include in the reading, and the upload screen shows the exact price before you pay. The unlock is charged once for the conversation, based on its size and voice messages — with no group multiplier.

Question 7

What languages are supported?

Accepted Answer

The interface is available in 6 languages. Each voice message is written in the language it was spoken, and you choose the language of the analysis.

Question 8

How can I summarize a WhatsApp group chat?

Accepted Answer

Export your WhatsApp group chat (three dots, then More, then Export Chat, then choose where to save it) and upload the .zip file to ThreadRecap. The AI analyzes the full conversation and produces a structured summary with key topics, decisions, and action items, usually within a few minutes. You can then ask the chat questions about the conversation, like what one person said or what is still open.

Question 9

What tool analyzes WhatsApp voice messages?

Accepted Answer

ThreadRecap analyzes WhatsApp voice messages by transcribing them through OpenAI's audio transcription API. It supports OPUS, OGG, M4A, MP3, AAC, and WAV audio formats found in WhatsApp exports. Transcriptions are merged into the conversation in date order, so voice messages are included in the recap, the chat answers, and the chronological record.

Question 10

How to get meeting notes from WhatsApp?

Accepted Answer

Upload your WhatsApp chat export to ThreadRecap. The automatic recap pulls out the key topics, the decisions made, and the action items. You can then ask the chat about any of them, like who agreed to what or which questions are still open. It works for any WhatsApp thread with decisions, not just formal meetings.

Question 11

How to document WhatsApp conversations for business disputes?

Accepted Answer

Upload your WhatsApp chat to ThreadRecap. The recap highlights the key topics, decisions, and commitments in the conversation, and you can ask the chat for any date, promise, or quote. You can also download the chronological record: every message word for word, in date order, with voice messages transcribed, to bring to a lawyer or mediator.

Question 12

How to catch up on a long WhatsApp group chat?

Accepted Answer

Export the group chat from WhatsApp and upload it to ThreadRecap. The initial recap extracts the key topics, decisions, and action items from the conversation. You can then use follow-up chat to focus on specific participants or filter out off-topic chatter.

Question 13

Can I transcribe WhatsApp voice messages to text?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ThreadRecap transcribes WhatsApp voice messages to text automatically. Export your chat with media included, upload the .zip to ThreadRecap, and OPUS, OGG, M4A, MP3, AAC, and WAV voice messages are transcribed through OpenAI's audio transcription API. Transcriptions are merged into the conversation timeline; quality varies with the recording.

Question 14

How to create evidence reports from WhatsApp conversations?

Accepted Answer

Upload your WhatsApp chat export to ThreadRecap. Voice messages are transcribed in full, and the recap highlights the key topics, decisions, and commitments. For the whole conversation in one file, download the chronological record: every message word for word, in date order, with the sender and date of each one. You can then ask the chat to find any agreement or quote.
