Is my data private?
Yes. Your chat is parsed locally in your browser. Photos and videos never leave your device. Only the text and voice notes you opt in to transcribe are sent encrypted for analysis. Your chat is stored on our servers so your analysis stays accessible, and you can delete anytime from your dashboard.
How do I export a WhatsApp chat?
Open WhatsApp, open the chat, tap the menu, choose Export Chat, and pick whether to include media. You will get a .zip file ready to upload.
What is the largest chat I can upload?
ThreadRecap handles WhatsApp exports up to 60,000+ messages, with a 2GB file size cap.
Can I transcribe voice notes?
Yes. When you export with media, .opus voice notes are detected automatically. You choose whether to transcribe them as part of the analysis.
