WhatsApp Privacy Settings Blocking Exports?

You tried to export a WhatsApp chat and the option was missing or greyed out. The most likely cause is a privacy setting — either yours or the group admin's.

Advanced Chat Privacy (the main culprit)

WhatsApp introduced "Advanced Chat Privacy" as a group setting. When a group admin enables this:

• Members cannot export the chat
• Members cannot forward messages from the group
• AI features are disabled for the group

This is a per-group setting, not a global one. So you might be able to export some chats but not others.

How to check
