How to attach a WhatsApp chat to a consumer complaint

The portals take a PDF, not audio. Upload the export of your chat with the company and get a dated record, every voice message written out, ready to attach.

  • Photos stay on your device; from a video, only the audio track your browser extracts is sent.

How it works

1

Export the conversation with the company

In WhatsApp, open the chat with customer service and export it with media. With media, the agent's voice messages travel inside the .zip.

2

See the price and confirm

See the exact price on the upload screen. Unlock the full conversation only when it is worth it.

3

Download the record and attach it

Download the record as a PDF and attach it on the portal. The same record also comes as a much smaller TXT, for a portal with a tight limit.

Before you attach it

Each portal has its own attachment limit. The export steps are in the Android and iPhone guides. For a text-only chat, the free reader already makes the PDF at no cost.

What each portal accepts

Read on each portal's help pages in September 2026. The portals change these rules without notice, so check before you send.

  • consumidor.gov.br: up to 5 attachments of up to 1 MB each. It takes PDF and TXT, with a file name under 80 characters.
  • Reclame Aqui: up to 3 files in PDF, PNG or JPG, up to 5 MB, and only when the complaint is published.
  • Procon: each Brazilian state runs its own system. On Procon-SP, up to 6 files of up to 2 MB each.
  • consumidor.gov.br and Reclame Aqui take no audio file. What was said in a voice message reaches the complaint only in writing.

Where to save the export

Do this on the phone that holds the chat with the company, before you delete anything. The last step is the one that goes wrong most:

  • Tap Google Drive and save the file there. Some phones also show Save as file, which puts it in Downloads.
  • On iPhone, tap Save to Files and pick a location. The .zip really is saved, and you can find it again in the Files app.
  • The export has no fixed folder. The sharing panel decides where it lands: the Files app on iPhone, Google Drive on Android, or an email inbox when it is mailed.

What the record does not do

It organizes the conversation for whoever reads the complaint. What happens next depends on the agency and on your case.

It does not promise that the complaint is accepted or that the company answers. ThreadRecap gives no legal advice.

It does not prove the conversation was never altered. No tool can prove that from an export, so keep the original .zip and the chat on your phone.

A machine writes out the voice messages, and machines mishear. Check the lines that matter most before you attach it.

Key benefits

The conversation with the company in order, with a date and time on every message

Every voice message from the agent written out where it was sent

A PDF to attach and a smaller TXT for the portal with a 1 MB limit

The price of the whole conversation on screen, before anything is processed

The name of whoever sent each message, as the export records it

No promise about the outcome of your complaint

Common complaints

An order that never arrived

The shop promised a date and a refund on WhatsApp, then stopped answering.

A charge that should not exist

The phone company's agent confirmed the cancellation in a voice message, and the charges kept coming.

A repair that never happened

The technician agreed the job in a voice message and never came back.

A trip that went wrong

The agency moved the flight by message and will not return the difference.

Questions? Answered.

The portals take attachments, and the conversation with the company is often the one that shows what was agreed. How much weight it carries depends on the agency and on your case, and no tool guarantees the outcome.

consumidor.gov.br and Reclame Aqui take no audio file. That is why every voice message becomes text in the record, with the date it was sent, and whoever reads the complaint listens to nothing.

The same record also comes as a TXT, which is much smaller, and consumidor.gov.br takes TXT. Check the file's size before you send it.

Only if the chat has voice messages. Without media, the export carries the text alone. With media, it also carries the voice messages, which become text in the record.

The price follows the size of the conversation, with its voice messages counting towards that size. It shows on screen before anything is processed, and one payment covers the whole conversation.

No. The company sees only what you attach to the complaint. On Reclame Aqui, attachments are visible to you and the company only, never to the public.

Privacy and security

Chat parsing happens locally in your browser. For AI analysis, text is sent with card and bank details, ID numbers and passwords replaced by markers.

Your chat is stored on our servers so your analysis stays accessible. You keep full control: delete anytime from your dashboard. Never used for training and shared only with the providers that run the service.

Photos, video files, and their visual content never leave your device. For transcription, we send chat text and the audio of every voice message, including the audio track your browser extracts from each video.
