Chronological Timeline

Jan 12, 18:04Payment Terms Agreed (Voice Note)

Contact "Marco" agreed the amount and the deadline in a voice message. Transcribed in full and quoted here.

"Okay, so we said four thousand, half now and half when you deliver, and you'll have it by the end of the month. That's agreed."
Feb 3, 21:47Terms Denied (Voice Note)

The same contact describes different terms three weeks later. Both voice notes sit on one timeline, so the contradiction is visible without hunting through the chat.

0:38s

"I never said end of the month. We never agreed a date, you're remembering it wrong."

Spoken Commitments

  • Amount and payment split agreed by voice on Jan 12, quoted verbatim with the timestamp of the recording.
  • Deadline denied by voice on Feb 3, contradicting the Jan 12 recording from the same contact.

From voice notes to a written record in under a minute

No listening back through hours of audio, no typing it out yourself.

1

Export from WhatsApp

Open the chat on your phone. Tap the contact name, then Export Chat, and choose 'Attach Media' — this is the option that includes the voice notes. Without it you export the text only.

2

Upload to ThreadRecap

Upload the exported ZIP. The chat is parsed in your browser, and every voice note in it is found and counted before anything is sent anywhere.

3

Get the Report

Each voice note is transcribed and placed on the timeline at the moment it was sent, alongside the written messages. You get one document where spoken and written promises read the same way — and you can ask follow-up questions to find a specific claim.

Sound Familiar?

The agreement was made in a voice note and there is nothing written down.

Hours of recordings to listen through, with the one sentence that matters somewhere inside.

A lawyer or HR asks for it in writing, and audio files are not something they can read.

The other side says the voice note meant something else, and it is your word against theirs.

Voice notes are scattered across months of chat with no dates attached to what was said.

Why This Can't Wait

  1. 1

Spoken promises count — if you can produce them

A commitment made in a voice message carries the same weight as a written one in many jurisdictions. The obstacle is practical, not legal: nobody can review an audio file the way they review a document.

  2. 2

A transcript is readable, an audio file is not

Lawyers, HR departments and small-claims clerks work from documents. A written transcript with timestamps can be read, quoted, searched and attached to a filing. A folder of .opus files cannot.

  3. 3

Contradictions only show on a timeline

One voice note proves little. The same person saying two different things five weeks apart, with both dates on the record, is the thing that settles an argument.

  4. 4

Memory of a recording is not evidence of it

Recalling roughly what someone said in an audio message is worth nothing in a dispute. The verbatim words, with the date they were spoken, is what changes the conversation.

  5. 5

Chats get deleted, and disputes have deadlines

Accounts are closed, phones are lost and messages are deleted for everyone. Exporting and transcribing while you still have access is the difference between having the record and describing it.

When voice notes are the evidence

Deals Agreed by Voice

Prices, deadlines and scope agreed in voice messages with a client, supplier or business partner — transcribed verbatim with the date each one was recorded.

Work Instructions and Scope Changes

The extra work requested in a voice note and denied at invoice time, written out in the words it was asked in.

Landlord and Tenant Promises

Repairs promised, deposits discussed and permissions granted by voice, on a timeline you can hand over with a claim.

Manager Instructions and Incidents

After-hours requests, verbal warnings and commitments made by voice, documented in the form HR and employment tribunals actually accept.
